Patient Services - Specialized Support Staff

 The A-Med Specialty Pharmacy support staff works with you to help improve the quality of care by coordinating specialty pharmacy activities between your primary care physician, prescribing specialists and social worker.
  1. Our Clinical Care Team is accessible 9 am to 5 pm Pacific Time weekdays
  2. Multi-lingual support available
  3. Emergency assistance by phone 24/7
Outlined below are the responsibilities of each of our professionals:

Clinical Care Staff
  1. Enrolls patient and provides welcome materials
  2. Schedules activities for follow-up
  3. Places proactive refill calls to you 7 to 10 days prior to need date
  4. Contacts physician or referral source for missing information if necessary
  5. Assists you in arrangement of homecare if needed
  6. Reviews patient checklist
  7. Performs follow-up assessment when due, according to disease protocol
  8. Contacts physician, if necessary
  9. Answers and documents your questions
Pharmacist
  1. Evaluates initial referral and ensures clinical guidelines are met
  2. Obtains any necessary personal information and verifies appropriate dosing
  3. Reviews medical necessity with each refill
  4. Assists physician with dosage adjustments
  5. Assists you with all medication related questions
  6. Evaluates dosing
  7. Assess and explains possible side effects
  8. Assures proper drug stability and storage
  9. Reviews potential drug interactions
  10. Maximizes adherence to drug therapies
Reimbursement Specialist
A-Med’s reimbursement specialists will streamline the claim process to insure prompt reimbursement for your specialty products by:
  1. Verifying your benefits and obtaining prior authorization if necessary
  2. Determining proper billing channel
  3. Coordinating benefits
  4. Making sure submitted claims are paid accurately and consistently
  5. Working with physician’s staff whenever a need may be indicated for access to Medication Assistance Programs, which help uninsured or under-insured patients acquire vital medications
